Translation Spicules monoecious or dioecious, occasionally androgynous, trifariae, compressiose, with empty lower scales, smaller terminal. Male flowers mono — diandri. Anthers linear, tetragonal, mucronate, filaments filiform, persistent. Female spicules biflora, usually monocarpic, sometimes mucronate above in flat fruit. Style bulbous at base; stigmas three, long, thick, rough. Cup obsolete. Perigynum absent. Caryopsis chartaceous, trigonal, slightly narrower at base, crowned with a capitate process, arising from the remnant of the style base. Inflorescence: capitate spicules; pedunculate capitula; axillary fascicles; fascicles or dilines or spicules of both sexes comprising, and then the male spicules are exterior with a slightly firmer peduncle. [details]
