Chile 21(2): 384 (1862), information provided by Alan E. on email Jun. 07 2021 More details could be found in [details]Translation With upright stems, triangular; with smooth leaves equalling the stem; with unisexual spikes, 3 to 4, with the upper being male, the lower being pedunculated and supported by a leaf-like bract equalling the stem; with male scales that are oblong, somewhat obtuse, with dark purple edges; with female scales that are ovate, obtuse, dark purple, with a green midrib fading before the apex; with utricles slightly surpassing the scales in width and length, compressed, ovate, acute, nervose, immature with a brown margin, smooth; with a short beak; and three stigmas.
