Translation Dioecious plant. The short stems are divided into the remaining dead sheaths and are thickly covered with white-yellowish wool; with rather thick roots. The leaves are narrow linear, about 30 cm long and 2 mm wide, more or less rolled at the edges, white-hairy on both sides, gradually narrowing to a sharp tip; sheaths densely woolly. The lateral stems arise from the leaf axils hidden within the leaves, slender, smooth, 20-23 cm high, from the middle to the apex spikily branched. The inflorescence is panicle-clustered, interrupted, and 3-5 nodular; partial panicles are 3-5, branching in a paniculate arrangement with slender, very unequal branches 5-9, with white pubescence on the branches and branchlets; the lower bracts exceeding the inflorescence. The male spikes are oblong to oblong-elliptical, about 2 mm long; the glumes are imbricate, oval or oval-oblong, membranous, yellowish, the lower ones 1 to 3 empty, the others staminiferous with a short acute apex, few-nerved, with cilia on the upper margin; there are 2 stamens. The female flowers are elliptical spikes 1-2 mm long; the glumes are elliptical or ovate-oblong with edges fringed with long hairs. The fruiting bodies (immature) are ovate-elliptical, triangular with short beaks, with 3 stigmas, and an almost non-existent very short style. [details]
