Bras. 2(1): 162 (1842), information provided by Alan E. on email Jun. 07 2021 More details could be found in [details]Translation Dense, cushion-like culms, — Rhizoma 1/2 — 1.5 feet. erect or ascending, almost a finger thick, simple or bifid, densely clothed with the bases of the remaining leaves, with fibrous radicals latent beneath them, and a fascicular beard covered with efficient parallel spongy hairs. The furrows at the apex of the rhizome or the branches of the same terminal branches are very short and densely covered with hairs resembling the hairs of some Dracaenae Draconis or Yuccae, about 3 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1 inch long, and what emerges is broad, linear-acuminate, strict and rigid, patent, striated, carinate, ciliate at the base, with a rough margin towards the apex, paler beneath; SEGMENTS somewhat thinner, embracing, with fibres of the dissolute bracts emitting from the angle of the lower leaves. PEkpuwcuLI axillary 6 — 8, base conjunct at nearly middle of leaf sheath included, hine recurved, compressed, scabri, unequal, longer 1 — 1} poll. long. VAGINAE communes two, opposite, subulate-cuspidate, complicated, base membranous fascicle collect not much prominent; each peduncle has its own short bracteoles all membranous. Carrrura turbinate, 5 — 6-stachya. IwvoLucmr leaves two long fascicles, subulate, ciliate. Female spicules and solitary occur on peduncle. Srculae singulae 2 — 2; lin.
long, male slightly narrower and lanceolate, female more oblong; male scales inferior, female all with a wider base subulate-cuspidate margin membranous, ferruginous. Sramina ferruginous, FILAMENTIS scale longer;
two in the lowest, one in the rest, or even in all. PERIGYNIUM

Carvorsıs shell thin flat on one side, convex-angled on the back and therefore triangular, bulbous style base contracted into a neck with a subglobose apex crowned with a hairy crown, contracted at the base for a very short space and slightly above on each side a foveola impressed, which is not evident in all.
