Description Herb, monoecious. Caudex ~9 mm diam. including sheath remains and adventitious roots.
Leaf: sheath glabrous , re ddis h-b rown ;contraligule indistinct; blade 5–10 × 0.25–0.38 cm, linear-lanceolate, the margins and midrib (abaxial) sparsely pubescent, reddish-brown. Inflorescence paniculate, lax, paracladia 3–5, mono-morphic; culm 6–10 × ~0.1 cm, compressed, margin minutely ciliate. Paracladium (basal) up to 2.5 cm long, with 2–4 spikelets and 2–3 orders of branching; peduncle up to 4 cm long, compressed, glabrous. Involucral bract (basal) leaf-like: sheath ~7 mm long, light reddish-brown to reddish-brown, the surface ciliate, the mouth pubescent; blade ~10.5 × ~1.6 mm, midrib 1, the margin and midrib (abaxial) ciliate.Staminate spikelet ~7 × ~0.9 mm, lanceolate; mostly at the base of inflorescence/paracladium, comprising 5 glumes and 1–2 flowers; glume (basal) ~5 mm long, mucronate (mucro ~3 mm long); stamens 2, the connective projection oval with minute straight trichomes. Pistillate spikelet ~6.5 × ~1 mm, lanceolate, mostly at the apex of inflorescence/paracladium, comprising 4–5 glumes and one flower, the outermost glume ~4 mm long, mucronate (mucro ~1.8 mm long); stigmas 3. Achene 4–5 × 0.6–0.8 mm, oblong-ovoid, smooth, with a constriction zone between main body and beak, ciliate at the apex of main body and the beak; hypogynous scales 1–1.2 mm, orbicular, the margin fimbriate (trichomes 0.75–1 mm long); beak ~1–1.4 mm long, conical, pubescent.
