Lowest bract 5.5-23 cm × 2-4(7.5) mm; sheath (1.8)2.5-7(8) cm long, the inner side brown to reddish-brown. Spikes 3-8, all solitary. Female glumes (3.5)4-6(7) × 1.6-2.6 mm, dark brown to reddish-brown. 2n = 70. [details]
