Description Mat-forming annual or short-lived perennial. Roots minute; rhizome 11–125 × 0.4–1.5 mm, horizontal and above ground, green. Culms 1.2–10 cm tall, 0.3–0.7 mm in diameter, without nodes, with peduncles clustered on rhizome nodes. Leaves: sheath 5–15 × 0.4–1 mm, green; blade 5–54 × 0.3–0.6 mm. Inflorescence terminal, not proliferating; bract 2–3 × 0.6–1 mm. Spikelet solitary, 2.6–8 × 1–1.8 mm, with 6–19 glumes. Glumes 1.5–2.8 × 0.6–1 mm, acute, green or with brownish patches, midrib green with mucro <0.1 mm. Style bifid. Stamens 3; anthers 0.7–1.3 mm long, crested. Nutlets 0.8–1.8 × 0.4–0.9 mm, brown, minutely reticulate. [details]
