Description Laxa o densamente cespitosa. Tallos (8,3)16,8-28(40) cm, trígonos con los ángulos agudos, escábridos en la parte superior. Hojas (1)1,5-2,5(3) mm de anchura, de longitud menor que los tallos, planas, ásperas en los bordes de la parte superior, blandas; lígula 2-3 mm, de anchura menor que el limbo, de ápice agudo; sin antelígula; vainas basales escuamiforme, enteras o poco fibrosas, de color pardo pálido. Bráctea inferior de longitud mucho menor que la inflorescencia, nunca seren larga, glumácea, de ápice setáceo. Espigas dispuestas en espiga simple de (1,1)8-3,3(4,1) cm, verdosas o pajizas, agrupadas o algo separadas. Glumas ovales, de ápice ± agudo, hialinas o pajizas, las femeninas de longitud menor que los utrículos. Utrículos (1,7)1,9-2,3(2,5) × (0,8)0,9-1,1(1,5) mm, de contorno oval, plano-convexos o ligeramente biconvexos, con varios nervios perceptibles no muy prominentes, erectos o suberectos, verdes, bruscamente estrechados en un pico de (0,4)0,5-0,7(0,8) mm, liso, bidentado, no hendido en la cara abaxial. Aquenios 1,3-1,8 × 0,7-1,4 mm, de contorno oval-lenticular, biconvexos, con la base del estilo persistente en forma de una corta columna. 2n = 56. [details]

Translation Loosely or densely tufted. Stems (8.3)16.8–28(40) cm, trigonous with acute angles, scabrid in the upper part. Leaves (1)1.5–2.5(3) mm wide, shorter than the stems, flat, rough along the margins of the upper part, soft; ligule 2–3 mm long, narrower than the blade, with an acute apex; without an antiligule; basal sheaths scale-like, entire or slightly fibrous, pale brown in colour. Lower bract much shorter than the inflorescence, never prolonged, glumaceous, with a setaceous apex. Spikes arranged in a simple spike (1.1)1.8–3.3(4.1) cm long, greenish or straw-coloured, grouped or somewhat separated. Glumes ovate, with a ± acute apex, hyaline or straw-coloured; female glumes shorter than the utricles. Utricles (1.7)1.9–2.3(2.5) × (0.8)0.9–1.1(1.5) mm, ovate in outline, plano-convex or slightly biconvex, with several perceptible but not very prominent nerves, erect or suberect, green, abruptly narrowed into a beak (0.4)0.5–0.7(0.8) mm long, smooth, bidentate, not split on the abaxial side.
