New combination Low (8' to 16'), very slender, with one or two spikes which are half or less the size of those of the type, sessile or very nearly so. Perigynia not more than half the size of those in the common form. A diminutive form growing along the Mohawk River, according to Paine ; I have also collected it in Southern Vermont, and Professor Hitchcock sends it from Ames, Iowa.
