The ScheldeMonitor Dataportal aims to improve the services and functionalities that give a bonus on the integration of information and data. One of those functionalities is the development of a standardized taxonomic list of species linked with the Scheldt.

The Species Register of the Scheldt is a first attempt to get a full species list of organisms living in the Scheldt estuary (all areas under influence of the tide). This initial list is based on the reference matrix (made by experts of the T2009 consortium of the Scheldt), the MONEOS archive, ScheldeMonitor Dataportal (collection of data within the MONEOS program), literature, EuroBIS and the Dutch vegetation database.
